The JSD is always looking for new members. If you play one of the games that we currently support, you can apply to join one of our existing squads. If we don't support your game, we are always looking for people to help us expand into new games! |

Hey everyone, I've FINALLY got some free time on my hands, and I think its time to push through some updates that we've been meaning to do for a while.
First, I'd like to announce that we've done some extra promotions this week:
Popwar has been promoted to Captain, and will be retiring from his role as BF3 Squad Leader. Beastie has been promoted to Second Lieutenant, and will be taking over JSD's Operations Officer role. Vendetta, J.Dean, and NeilTheCellist have each been promoted to Lance Corporal. Vendetta and J.Dean will be sharing leadership of the existing BF3 squad, with a new squad name TBD. Neil will be taking over the new GHOST squad, also for BF3, with a focus on competition and tactical gameplay.
Next, the JSD Website will be getting a bit of an overhaul over the next few months. Each game that we support will be getting a subdomain (ex. swtor.jointstrikedivision.com) and a link from the top of the site to the "homepage" for each game. These pages will be customized based on the needs of the active squad(s) for each game. The Recruitment Application will be updated, modernized, and more heavily customized for each game. An events calendar will be added, allowing JSD, and each squad, to plan events and display them on the calendar for the members to see. Various informational pages will be updated, with the goal of allowing a better understanding of the clan's structure.
Finally, we've gone back and forth on this point for over a year now, and its time to make a decision. Do we stay with ventrilo? or make the switch over to TS3? For those of you that don't know, here are the pro's/con's that have been discussed:
Vent:
+ Time-tested simplicity
+ Simple, functional user permissions system
- Aging, and no longer supported
TS3:
+ Well supported with many great features and plug-ins to enhance what we can do with out VOIP server
+ Advanced user permissions system
- Replacement of user-password system with an "identity" system, that brings about some worrisome convenience and security issues
So, here's the poll. You vote and tell us what decision YOU want to see us make.
TL;DR: Beastie is the new ops officer, now 2 BF3 Squads (one casual, one semi-competitive), website will be updated watch for changes, and vote for Vent or TS3 above.
